6 Things That Won’t Happen in Google SEO

Google is the big daddy of search engines. There is no doubt that it runs the most complex and difficult to satisfy ranking algorithm with well over 200 factors being considered. There is plenty of information on how to do Google SEO, but what about the things that will never happen?

Get easier

It is a pretty good bet that Google will never make doing SEO any easier. The goal for Google is to make money and to do that they have to keep people using their search engine. For people to carry on using Google, Google has to make sure that it serves up the most relevant and best quality information that it can for each search that is performed. What this all means is that your website has to meet all the requirements of Google SEO before it can rank well and get that all important traffic.

Happen faster

There is no way to make Google SEO happen any faster and still keep your website safe from penalties. It is true, it is possible to get a website to the first page for some really high competition keywords in a few weeks, but that website will not stay there for long. The Google algorithm checks the content and link profile (and other aspects) of each website it crawls and flags anything it finds that violate the Google SEO Guidelines. Each flag that is raised makes it increasingly likely that the website will be penalised, either by dropping its rankings or by deindexing it completely. Penalties like this are extremely difficult to remove and you are better off just moving everything to a new domain and starting all over again.

Allow link building

Since the very beginning, the Google SEO Guidelines have said that they will not stand for artificial link building and that has not changed. Google wants your content to be linked to by people who found it worth linking to. These natural links are an indication that you have the right information and that Google should pay attention to what you have to say. Building links is an attempt to mislead Google’s algorithm into thinking that your information is more relevant and authoritative than it actually is.

Take the focus off content

The only thing that Google cares about is its users. Since information is what Google users are after, information, in the form of content, is what Google will give its users. This means that Content will always be one of the top factors in Google’s algorithm. It does not matter who you ask, when it comes to Google SEO, content is king and it always will be.

Disregard meta tags

There are some who would tell you that it is pointless to fill in your site’s meta tags. They are wrong. Although Google does not pay much attention to the keyword meta tag, it does make use of the title and description tag. These are the first impression that potential traffic gets of your website. Google displays your site in the search results pages by listing the title and description tags. This means that it is vital that your title tag features a good description of what the page is all about. The description tag should offer more explanation of the page and intrigue the potential visitor. It does not matter if your site gives the best answer to a search query, if the title and description tag do not reflect that, even a position 1 ranking will not improve your traffic.

Allow cloaking

Cloaking covers a wide range of techniques which display one set of content for human users and a totally different set of content for search engine bots. It is also in total contravention of the Google SEO Guidelines. If the Google algorithm finds evidence of cloaking there is only one way forward – deindexing.

If you want to have a website that lasts for as long as you need it and ranks well in Google just make sure that you read, understand and abide by all of the Google SEO Guidelines. It really is that simple.
